Summer Time and the Living’s Not Easy
Do you remember Ricky Nelson singing, “Summer time and the living is easy….” Well, he wasn’t singing about Savannah. It’s not easy, especially if you are homeless. It’s rough. It’s hot, humid and bug-infested. Thanks to faithful donors, Old Savannah City Mission offers not only safe, clean beds; it offers cool. It’s been a challenge, almost insurmountable. Our AC unit went down. There was no way we could change it out and repairing it was almost as bad. However, thank God for friends like Byrd Heating and Air. Once again, friends and neighbors get a break from the heat. Now, their evenings at the Mission afford them a lively Gospel service, a delicious supper, a refreshing shower, new underwear and a restful night’s rest.
Kudos to all who remember the hurting and homeless. Your faithful prayers and gifts make summer time a little easier. May God bless all who give to lift the heavy load of the homeless.
